Name : Al-Marbd livestock cooperative
No of members : 23
No of members benefiting loan: 9
Sector : Agriculture - Livestock
Purpose of the loan : Animal feeds for breeding and fattening of lambs
The first loan provided to the Almerbed livestock cooperative was utilized for buying feeds for two groups of animals: the first for breeding flocks to maintain it and keep its productivity; while the second was to fatten the small lambs (increase weight from 30kg/live weight to 60kg/live weight in average) which means more meat production and more profit for the members. As a result the cooperative members benefitting from the loan have been able to fatten more than 100 lambs and increase the meat production to around 1.5 tons of meat with a value of more than USD 18,000. These results have encouraged the cooperative to apply for other loan after they have repaid the first loan on time. Moreover, the wholesale of feeds has improved the feeds supply conditions and increase its prices.
The Halhoul branch staff has followed all the loan procedures from application to marketing of the lambs in order to ensure the development impact of the loan.
